Dance Underground is starting again. If you love to dance and want to perform in our May showcase come down to Tuesdays and Thursday at 11:45 in the dance studio A19.

Did you know that Olympic Level table tennis players can read faster than a samese cat in a bathtub. Practice tonight team in the dungeon. The League starts in 2 months. Big mac Tony and Charlie Low report to C14 @ 11:30 AM sharp.

Attention Girl's Hockey Team - There will be a brief but Important meeting at the start of lunch today in B40 to discuss a game next week.

The Junior boys basketball team played an amazing game yesterday and won 71-55 against Northern. The juniors and The seniors play Monarch Park Thursday here at Danforth. Go Hawks Go!!

The deadline for College application is fast approaching, If you have not yet applied, please come down to guidance to book an appointment for one to one online session. A counsellor will be available to work with you during the application process. When you sign up you will be receiving an appointment slip. See you then. Night school registration deadline is Jan 21 - if you need to pick up an extra credit to graduate, please come by guidance to pick up the application and booklet.

The senior boys basketball team were tied 39-39 with Leaside at the end of regulation game time at yesterday's game. After 4 minutes of overtime, Danforth won 46-44! The juniors boys also played a hard fought game but unfortuntely lost to Leaside 40-38. We played a home game against North Toronto this Thursday-tomorrow.

The girls hockey team had their first game of the season yesterday. They grabbed a 1-0 lead after the “Bobby orr” end to end rush by Erin Aliko. From then on, the skilled riverdale team pressed hard. Riverdale prevailed 3-1. Meeting in B40 at the start of lunch Wednesday and practice Thursday 3 pm @ Ted Reeves.

The varsity hawks team had a victory in overtime over Eastern Commerce/ Monarch Park yesterday at Birchmount Stadium. The hawks fought hard and battled back from a 3 – 0 deficit to win 10 – 3 in shoot out, outstanding game by all players. Thanks to all those who contributed to this wonderful season. The Danforth Hawks football team tangled with the previously unbeaten Western Tech. Mustangs. Yesterday, the wildcat was tamed as the hawks scored 26 unanswered points to clench the East Division Title along with a berth in the playoffs. The senior boy’s volleyball team played a great weekend tournament at the Queen University Invitational. The team went up against some great teams in Ontario and finished the tournament in 5^th place. Great Weekend Boys!

Yesterday in League action, the senior boys demolished Leaside 25-5, 25-10 to keep their record unbeaten at 5-0. Next game is today in the North Gym vs North Toronto. Come out and support your team!

Canadian Blood Services Youth Volunteer Program

Summer holidays are approaching and the Canadian Blood Services Youth Volunteer Program is looking for students 14 older who are interested in volunteering at blood donor clinics in the Greater Toronto Area during the months of July and August.
Volunteers will be performing customer service roles in the clinics and administrative tasks at the office.
The program offers a letter of reference, certificate of appreciation, a final recognition ceremony, a chance to meet other students and a great opportunity to complete those volunteer hours!
Additional information is available at the guidance office.

3.Rome was not built in a day. The Danforth cricket team knew that this is going to be their tournament and left with their heads held high. So, what if they 0 and 4. we were the most well behaved team, best dressed team, most multicultural team, and the team that imroved the most throughout the tourney. Hats off to a great season Lads! Yesterday, your Girls' Softball team journeyed to Dentonia Park to play in the quarter-finals versus a tough, west - end opponent - Parkdale. Your Red Hawks went up early and did not give up their lead. They won 14 to 10 in total team effort. However, one person's hard work must be acknowledged. Not having our starting pitcher, it was a fearless, grade 9 student who had to step up and pitch for the first time in the playoffs, without any real game experience. Christal Cole had shutdown batters and showed a dominance not typically seen in a first-time pitcher. Incredible job, Christal!
Come and see your Girls Softball team play in the semi-finals on Monday at Ted-reeve starting at 3:30 p.m. DC-DCT-DCTI GO HAWKS SOFTBALL!!

Yesterday your girls’ Softball team travelled to Dieppe park to free a leeside squad for the second time. In the first Engagment Danforth Had only won by one run. However, this time was different. Danforth blew up Leeside by a score of 20-3 to wrap up the regular season with a 5 and 1 record. The team would like to thank their fans for such a wonderful season commitment. Way to go GIRLS!!!

The coed volleyball team played a very spirited game today beating Bloor 3 sets to 2, the cool thing with this win, the team was down 2 sets to 0 but came back to win the next 3, the scores were 24-26,17-25,11-25,25-15,15-2. Solid defense and serving proved too much for the Bloor team. Great team play once again by all team members. Next game is Thursday. This game is played at a neutral site its at Riverdale but not sure yet who we play as the other winners have not come in yet.

The Girl’s softball team played in rather rough conditions yesterday. If a game that was grossly impaired, your team managed to just lose by one run, in a game that should of resulted in their victory. However, your softball teams showed the highest sense of pride and integrity by no reacting negatively and send a message that the next time we play Jarvis the result will be different!
8. Girls soccer team will have a mandatory practice at lunch on Monday in preparation for the play-off game that afternoon! Make sure to bring your uniforms on Monday.

Yesterday, your Danforth Girls’ Softball teams travelled to play Marc Garneau.. Marc Garneu’s girls seemed stunned as they were overpowered both offensively and defensively. Danforth hurt them early and of ten. Your Hawks won by a whopping 18-2 score. Danforth hurt them early and often. Thursday will see a battle of the undefeated with your Hawks taking on Jarvis collegiate. Congratulation Girls!!!

After a fine bowling performance by Ekram taking 3 wickets , the opening partnership of Mohitul and Rayun reached with in 10 runs of Eastern’s score until Mohitul was out having scored a halt century. It was a slugfest that went back and forth. When in the bottom of the last inning, your Danforth team had 2 outs with no one on base, but eventually put a player on and drove in the game-winning-run for a final score of 10 to 9. Danforth Mosaic BIA Community Clean-up Saturday April 24,2010 between 10am-1pm Danforth Musaic BIA is preparing for our second annual Community Clean-up along Danforth Avenue in Conjunction with Mayor David Miller’s Community Clean-up day.
We are looking for volunteers to support our neighborhood by coming out to give us a hand. Right now we need volunteers to help with the following:
Participate in the clean up of the Coxwell Parkette (SW corner of Danforth and coxwell)
Assist 54 & 55 division police officers in graffiti removal on the south and north sides of Danforth avenue
Partner up with other volunteers to remove garbage from planter boxes along Danforth Avenue.
Gloves will be provided for the clean up but you are encouraged to bring your own garbage/plastic bags from home.
After the clean up we will be holding a volunteer appreciation barbeque in the Coxwell Parkette at 1pm If you require more information, please contact Cynthia at Danforth Mosiac BIA by telephone at 416-849-6688 or by email at info@danforthmosaicbia.com to register as a volunteer for one of the tasks noted above. Our Girls Hockey Team had a great Day Tournament at York University yesterday. We came in Third overall! Thanks to Mr.Moore for the trucking our equipment out and to the girls for being such good sports, including Mr. Topsom, Darien's dad who drove us there along with the coaches. watch us play our last game against the Staff, April 1st, 4pm at Ted Reeve Arena. Let’s kickoff, with this month’s genre/theme, which would be Martial Arts, and Fantasy. Today showcase is Kenichi: the Mightiest Disciple, a disciple who goes and train hard as REAL martial artist. The special showcase will be Chrome Shell Regios, a fantasy anime that you wish you would like to live in. Tomorrow, the prizes for AMV Contest will be handed to competitors, and so far, there are only two competitors, we need one more or else this last prize will be given to non-competitor.
